Break Attack and Something Different

"A" graced us with her spectacular cooking this past Monday.  As well, we learned a little secret about "J".

"A" started out with some unbelievably fresh sea bass.

Risotto getting toasted.

After it toasts, stock and seasons get added.

The sea bass get browned on the stove-top.

A mixture of panko breadcrumbs and almond slivers get toasted.  The fish will take a dip in this, for a crunchy exterior.

"A" finished the dish with a fresh mango salsa which included red pepper, red onion and mint.  Delish!

"J's" new secret?  He's found a new affair with bread-making.  As you know, as loyal readers, he's always loved making homemade doughs (for bread, pizza, etc.).  But, he's learning so much more!  Look at this beauty!

How brown the crust is?  It's perfect.  Crunchy exterior, soft interior.  Inside we found walnuts and cranberry's.

Nothing a little homemade butter couldn't made EVEN better!

Toasted up, homemade butter and a drizzle of honey?  Now that's the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner.

For something different JAK is going to be hitting the town.  Trying out new restaurants, again, and reporting back.  Stay tuned.

Until next time.....A la cuisine!

Open Late?

This past Monday we had a late night diner dinner.  I had a late meeting, and "J" and "A" were wonderful enough to hold-off on the meal for me.  It was so cute and clever, when I arrived.  They had turned their dining area into an old-fashioned diner!

It starts with a homemade dough.

Yep, making homemade burger buns.  Love the sesame seed touch!

The cute slider buns, complete and ready for us to start forming our late night diner burger!

Side starts with fresh onions.

Lots of herbs and pepper.

This cooks down into a french onion soup!

Bread and cheese on top, gets baked.  Perfect late night diner side dish!

Burger meat.  Kobe, of course.

That's definitely not your normal late night diner meat!

Yum, cheese on top!

The cute diner table, which includes all the fixin's

My burgers had ketchup, mayo and mustard.

Burgers and soup together.

"A" made a chocolate diner soda fountain drink for each of us.  Yummo!

It was all fabulous!  Best late night diner meal I've ever had.

Dessert?  Nothing more than a cheesecake tart!  It was enjoyed while we played Draw Something amongst ourselves.  Nothing wrong with a late night friendly competition.  :)

Until next time.....A la cuisine!
